  • Novotel On Stevens, Singapore 28 Stevens Road Singapore, 257878 Singapore (map)

Embark on a crucial learning journey with OComp and Maritime Battery Forum as we present the course, “Managing a Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Onboard a Vessel”,designed exclusively for technical personnel and individuals engaged in shore-based roles within the shipping industry.

Ocomp’s Managing a Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Onboard a Vessel course equips maritime professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely recognize, assess, and respond to lithium-ion battery incidents in a marine environment.

The training combines current industry knowledge with practical, scenario-based learning, enabling crews to make informed decisions under pressure. Whether you are a master, officer, engineer, deck crew member, or part of a shore-based maritime support team, this course helps strengthen your preparedness for one of the fastest-growing risks in the maritime sector.

By attending Ocomp’s course, you will improve onboard safety, enhance your emergency response capabilities, and help protect lives, vessels, cargo, and the environment. Investing in specialized lithium-ion battery fire training is an investment in safer operations and greater confidence when facing emerging maritime challenges.

The course covers the Norwegian Maritime Directorate’s guidance on requirements for training on chemical storage for energy (maritime battery systems) on board Norwegian ships with the exception of equipment-specific training. This guidance aligns with the broader international standards such as the ISM Code 6.3 and 6.5 for establishing safety procedures and familiarizing personnel with their duties, the STCW Convention Regulation I/14 – 5 for ensuring crew competency and familiarity with ship equipment and procedures, and the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s MGN 681 for safely managing lithium-ion batteries and identifying potential hazards.

Access to the course is independent from the WATTS UP conference, but tickets are sold through the same platform.
