The Maritime Battery Academy is a newly launched initiative by the Maritime Battery Forum to provide everyone with the latest insights into maritime battery technology and marine electrification. The Academy material is curated by experts in the MBF according to the requirements for training of crew on battery-powered ships from the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).

The Maritime Battery Academy provides courses at three levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. The Basic course will cover the principles of:
Battery technology
Battery aging
Battery system components
Battery system design considerations
Battery Management Systems
Auxiliary Systems
Safety Hazards and Risks
Safety Procedures
Maintenance, Inspections, and Recycling
After completion of the 3-hour basic course, participants will have a basic understanding of the principles and terminology of maritime battery technology and marine electrification.
Access to the course is independent from the WATTS UP conference, but tickets are sold through the same platform.
