Ocean-going cargo ships with batteries

The MBF has collaborated with CIMAC on a joint white paper on the use of batteries on board ocean-going cargo ships. The goal was to determine the opportunities, requirements, and limitations of batteries on these types of ships.

The results from this working group are two whitepapers titled “Environment for the use of batteries in deep-sea shipping”. The first offers a comprehensive examination of use cases and application areas within this field, the second, examines the regulatory framework for battery use in deep-sea shipping, including requirements from flag states, classification societies, and industry standards.
