Dave Gorshkov CEng FIET CMarEng Dave was born in Cardiff and graduated from the School of Maritime Studies ( Wales) in Marine Electrical Engineering and went on to become a Chartered Electrical Engineer , Chartered Marine Engineer and Fellow of the IET. He has served as a seagoing engineering officer as well as a shore based technical superintendent. Having consulted for numerous major shipping companies and government agencies on advanced power electronics and HV power systems used in Martine power and propulsion as well as OPS applications. Dave has also helped develop standards used across the world in transport and maritime electrical systems .
Recent projects include new ship designs incorporating the latest ‘Hybrid’ Li-Ion Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) used to reduce carbon emissions ahead of the 2030 IMO deadlines new carbon emissions regulations as well as energy recovery and power quality projects. Dave currently works for QinetiQ , leading the Maritime Electrical Systems team based at Haslar, and is an expert in High Voltage Power and Propulsion supporting projects on ‘Grey’ ships as well as commercial shipping and ports.
