As the fleet of battery and battery hybrid vessels grows and onshore power supply infrastructure expands, safety and standardization must be upheld as top priorities. By leveraging both onboard (Li-ion) and shoreside OPS electrification solutions, the maritime sector can make progress towards its sustainability goals.

In this report, Bureau Veritas aims to provide the reader with an introduction to the technical principles surrounding lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries and Onshore Power Supply (OPS) systems.
