Simon Møkster Shipping joins the Maritime Battery Forum

The Maritime Battery Forum is pleased to announce that Simon Møkster Shipping joined our global network of maritime battery enablers. Their experience and innovative thinking will help us on our mission to accelerate the adoption of safe maritime battery solutions to enable emission reductions.

About Simon Møkster Shipping

Simon Møkster Shipping AS is a supplier of modern offshore support vessels with high quality specifications, designed for operations in harsh weather conditions. We offer services to the offshore wind- and oil & gas industry. The company's head office is located in Stavanger, Norway and our main operational area is the North- and the Barents Sea. Møkster has a fleet of 16 vessels, 4 of which have batteries installed, and two more battery installations are on the way. We are approximately 500 employees onshore and offshore. Simon Møkster Shipping is 100% owned by the Møkster family.

Why did you decide to join the MBF?

Simon Møkster Shipping has clear and ambitious emission reduction targets going forward, and in order to achieve our targets we do see the importance of batteries on board our vessels. In our experience, you don’t get the 10-20% emission reduction the day after you have installed your battery. Therefore, we need to be part of this expert community in order to maximize the utilization and benefits of our batteries whilst also increasing maritime competence on the subject.

What do you expect to get from being a member?

We expect to get insight and first-hand knowledge of the latest news within battery safety, innovation, and technology.

What do you think can be your contribution to the forum?

Our vision is to be “Your best partner”, this applies to all business areas. As a vessel owner and operator, we can contribute with our “best practice” when it comes to the use of batteries on board offshore vessels. We will be sitting on a lot of battery data from different operational modes and can therefore be an important partner for future optimalization projects.

Welcome to the Maritime Battery Forum, we are looking forward to start the collaboration!
