Maritime Battery Academy – Basic Course

Time 09:00–12:00

Course Cost SGD 400 per person

Delivered by the Maritime Battery Forum, this newly launched course provides a solid foundation in maritime battery technology and marine electrification. The curriculum has been developed by industry experts and is aligned with the training requirements of the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).

Topics include:

• Battery technology and aging

• Battery system components and design

• Battery Management Systems (BMS)

• Auxiliary systems

• Safety hazards, risks, and procedures

• Maintenance, inspections, and recycling

Participants will leave with a strong understanding of the key principles and terminology of maritime battery systems.

Managing a Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Onboard a Vessel

Time - 13:00–18:00

Cost - SGD 1,620 per person (includes the Maritime Battery Academy Basic Course)

Delivered by OComp in collaboration with the Maritime Battery Forum, this practical course is designed for technical personnel and shore-based professionals working in the maritime sector.

Through scenario-based learning, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to recognize, assess, and respond safely to lithium-ion battery incidents onboard vessels. The course is aligned with guidance from the Norwegian Maritime Directorate and international standards, including the ISM Code, STCW Convention, and the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency's MGN 681 guidance.

Whether you're a master, officer, engineer, crew member, or part of a shore-based support team, this training will strengthen your emergency response capabilities and help improve safety for people, vessels, cargo, and the environment.
