The allocations for the fourth round of applications in the Battery in Zero-Emission Ships support program, with a deadline of September 9, are now ready.

In this round, five new vessels and four conversions have been granted support, including one project involving rotor sails. In addition, five new charging facilities will receive support. This marks an important step towards zero emissions in Norwegian short sea shipping and shows that the technology is now ready for widespread use, from offshore supply vessels and aquaculture vessels to electric bulk carriers and tourist boats in the World Heritage fjords.

Diversity and innovation in the projects

The support goes to a variety of projects and illustrates that battery power can be used in most types of ships. Enova supports the most ambitious electrification projects and the necessary charging infrastructure. The projects demonstrate the potential for battery operation and may pave the way for increased electrification of maritime transport.
