Eidesvik joins MBF and CTO Ellen Sofie Ottesen becomes chair of the board

During the Annual General Meeting on 8 March, Eidesvik’s Chief Technology Officer Ellen Sofie Ottesen has been elected as chair of the MBF board. The MBF is excited that Eidesvik joined the forum and at the same time shares their CTO with us to lead the board.

Eidesvik Offshore ASA owns and operates a world-wide fleet of purpose-built vessels, providing services to the offshore supply, subsea and offshore wind markets. Their dedicated crews at sea and on land take great pride in delivering efficient high-quality seamanship, services, and operations to the company’s clients. For decades Eidesvik has also had a clear vision of using as little fossil fuel as possible to minimise their emissions – resulting in a strong reputation as a pioneer in implementing new environmental technologies in both newbuilds and existing fleet.

Eidesvik was the first company to explore battery hybrid power installed on offshore vessels in the FellowSHIP project with funding from the Norwegian Research Council. In FellowSHIP, Eidesvik partnered up with DNV and Wärtsilä Norway to install a battery system on Viking Lady in 2013. Furthermore, in 2016 the company’s PSV Viking Energy became the world’s first vessel with a Battery Power notation. Eidesvik’s headquarters is located at Bømlo, between the cities of Haugesund and Bergen on the Norwegian west coast.
