Marine Battery Workshop - Houston, Texas

More and more ships are going electric, and batteries are now a standard part of many vessel designs. The Maritime Battery Forum (MBF) and the SNAME Texas Section are hosting a one-day, in-person workshop for anyone working on marine electrification, including naval architects, marine engineers, shipowners, operators, shipyards, class and regulators.

The workshop uses MBF course material that has been taught around the world, and it follows the MBF-led workshop in Ottawa in 2025. The day starts with how lithium-ion batteries work. Battery makers then present their systems, followed by sessions on fitting batteries into ships and on battery safety. You’ll leave knowing how to choose a battery technology for a vessel, what integration on board involves, and how to install and run battery systems safely.
