DBI Webinar: Fire and explosion behaviour of lithium-ion batteries

The number of lithium-ion batteries continues to increase as they are incorporated into more and more products and means of transport, including battery-powered vessels, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems. While the statistical risk of fire remains low, battery fires can be complex and prolonged to extinguish and, in the worst case, develop into thermal runaway with fire and explosion hazards.

At this webinar, DBI experts Ana Sauca, Karlis Livkiss, Iben Hansen-Bruhn and Anders Drustrup will share the insights into the fire and explosion behaviour of lithium-ion batteries, based on the BESAFE project, and discuss how these findings can support the safe integration of battery systems across both land-based and maritime applications.

Date: September 17, 2026

Time: 15:00 – 16:00 CEST

Price: Free of charge

This webinar is relevant for:

Shipowners, shipyards, designers, technology providers, fire safety professionals, first responders, authorities, insurers, researchers, and other stakeholders interested in the safe use of lithium-ion batteries across maritime and land-based applications.
