Maritime Automated Charging System - HYPOBATT Whitepaper

In the quest for a sustainable and standardized future, the HYPOBATT Consortium has taken a significant step. The team have published a Whitepaper on the "Maritime Automated Charging System" (MACS), addressing the critical need for interoperability, safety, and #standardization in the #maritime sector.

In this Whitepaper you'll find detailed recommendations and requirements for both technical and non-technical aspects of MACS. The goal is to provide a unified and cooperative framework, bridging the gap until relevant standards are defined.

The Whitepaper focuses on the Automated Connecting Device (ACD) and covers specific aspects related to the main markets, including Marine and Heavy-Duty (HD) equipment. The key standards in focus for this document are the IEC 80005 and the IEC 61851. 🔌🌏

Within the HYPOBATT project, the team explored three main aspects of the Marine charging market:

1. High-power charging technology

2. Marine hyper charging application overview, encompassing vessel types, electric system architecture, and energetic needs

3. Port integration and grid interface requirements.

These insights led to a clear vision of the main requirements for MACS, ensuring a brighter, greener, and more standardized future for maritime charging.
